Twitter Bonuses

As the world of twitter continues to grow and expand. It now has provided athletes in certain sports the ability to gain bonuses due to twitter statistics. In the sport of UFC they have decided to give bonuses to their fighters for twitter activity. These bonuses were available to both UFC and Strikerforce fighters. While only one Strikeforce fighter has picked up a bonus and that was Strikerforce fighter Cristiane "Cyborg" Ssantos who picked up $5,000. Other UFC fighters such as Anderson Silva and Forrest Griffin to name a couple have picked up bonuses in UFC. This just goes to show that in today's society the world of social media is becoming a standard in sports and is now allowing athletes to get paid from it and gain bonuses. I'm sure that the athletes involved with UFC are thrilled about the possibilty of receiving a bonuse because of twitter. However, I wonder what athletes in other sports feel about this trend and will it catch on with other sports?
